Sports Ambassadors Report (2018 – 2019)
This academic year has been a busy one for the Sports Ambassadors. As well as inspiring children to take part and enjoy sports, they have performed a number of roles in the school. A key part of the Sports Ambassador role this year has been to run and officiate competitions between classes. They have done this for: Benchball, Basketball, Football, Cricket, Athletics and Hockey. While some Sports Ambassadors have helped officiate competitions, others have helped coach teams from Year 3, 4 and 5 in a variety of sports. They have also offered tactical advice from the side-lines as the competitions have started. The Sports Ambassadors have taken part in the Sports Council and have made suggestions that might help to shape the future of physical education at Downsell Primary (for example, the consensus was that more time should be given for PE lessons). Finally, Sports Ambassadors have given their time after school to help with KS1 clubs, helping to motivate the future sports stars of Downsell Primary.
