PE and Sports Premium Funding
The
School Sport and Activity Action Plan sets out government’s commitment to ensuring that children and young people have access to at least 60 minutes of sport and physical activity per day, with a recommendation of 30 minutes of this delivered during the school day (in line with the Chief Medical Officers guidelines which recommend an average of at least 60 minutes per day across the week).

What is the Sports Premium?
The Department for Education (DfE) are spending over £320 million on improving physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. The funding will be allocated directly to primary school’s to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all pupils. For 2020-21 Downsell Primary School received £20,398 for our PE and Sport Premium Grant.

Measuring the impact of Primary Sports Premium spending
The school will evaluate the impact on pupils at the end of each term and will target individuals and groups in order to raise their sporting achievement. We monitor the training and external agencies through observation and outcomes for pupils.
