Headteacher's blog - week ending 10/05/2019
10 May 2019
Dear all,
I hope you are well and had a really good week.
We have had two events this week. One was our reading breakfast. The children enjoy having their parents/carers come into their classrooms to read with them once every term, so thank you very much if you attended.
Our second event was the Downsell Primary School Chess competition. Around 30 children from years 3, 4 and 5 were invited to play against their peers. The finals will be held next week (Tuesday 14
th ) and the winners will receive a medal. It is fantastic to see so many of our children engaging in chess games.
Years 2 and 6 have been focusing and getting ready for their SATS tests taking place next week (from Monday 13
th). I know that all children and staff have worked very hard in the lead up to these tests and so I wish them the best of luck.
Lastly, as you will know Downsell Primary School has been supporting the charity Children with Cancer UK for the past year. On Friday 17
th May we will be holding a Summer Disco (5pm – 7pm) for all of our children. Tickets will cost £2.50 for children and 50p for adults. Tickets are now on sale from the school office. There will be a tuck shop available at the disco in order for children to buy snacks and drinks.
As you might remember we have had a Halloween Disco and a Spring Disco. These events have been fantastically successful and all of the children have left with huge smiles on their faces.
I hope to see as many children as possible there. Not only is the event fun for the children but it is a brilliant way to keep supporting the Charity Children with Cancer UK.
Thank you all for your support. Take care and see you soon.
